Discover templates, lesson plans, and freebies as we continue to develop the Fire Four Years Curriculum. At FireCopy, we are working to propel literature, language, and history curricula for grades 9-12 towards representing many more of the people and places that exist within those disciplines. We achieve this by creating curricular and instructional materials focused on self-image, truth, equity, excellence, and reality (STEER).

Reimagine the Classics

While there are profound themes and exquisite exemplars within some of the “classic” works that have been curricular staples for decades, they are not the only masterpieces. Our curricular products and services present new classics while adding context and accountability to the old ones.

Decolonize your Curriculum

We are working against the toxic underrepresentation that has prevailed for too long. If schools and districts truly expect students to consider themselves global citizens, the curriculum must acknowledge much more of the globe.

Improve Vertical Alignment

One of the most frustrating aspects of traditional curricula for students, teachers, and parents is the lack of vertical alignment. Our Fire Four Years curriculum will offer chronological and thematic connections from year to year.

8 Don’ts of Virtual Professional Development

Teleworking suddenly became the new normal for thousands of organizations as a consequence of COVID-19. The pandemic forced many to transform their approach to professional development. Committees and departments not only had to reschedule training but redesign it.

Whether your memory of this feeling comes from school or from your last professional development training, the problems are the same. Educational and professional curricula continue to show signs of the prejudiced past and the politically-correct present. About Me

Hi, I’m Lisa Irving, the owner of FireCopy. I am an education content creator who is diversifying curricula for learners and leaders. FireCopy’s mission is to propel literature, language, and history curricula for grades 9-12 towards representing many more of the people and places that exist within those disciplines. We achieve this by creating curricular and instructional materials focused on self-image, truth, equity, excellence, and reality (STEER).

During my time as an English teacher, I and my like-minded colleagues would gripe about the implicit emphasis on Eurocentric texts and ideals within the curriculum. Even in times when we had the freedom to select which text, video, or other media we would use to teach a skill, it always felt daring to venture outside of conventional choices. This consistent conflict was a major factor in my decision to transition from the classroom and pursue FireCopy full time.
